The word on the streets is that Apple is set to release new updated iMacs on Tuesday, August 7th. Apple sent out an invite to the press for a special "Mac" related If the rumors hold true we will be seeing an all new enclosure to Apple's all-in-one machine. When they moved to Intel processors last year I had expected the change come at that time. However, they ended up keeping the G5 iMac design through the transition.

A lot of sites are "reporting" that a brushed metal enclosure that will be very thin (like that of the current Apple Cinema Display models) will be introduced. It has been almost 3 years since Apple introduced the G5 form-factor at the end of August 2004.

As with all of Apple's announcements, I am expecting something spectacular. Since it has been noted that is is a "Mac" related event I do not expect much time to be spent on the iPhonThe one thing I haven't seen discussed is the possibility of the iMac HD. Something that I think might be very possible is that the iMac will start shipping with High Definition screens as it seems that the industry is moving in that direction. As long as costs can be kept down I can see this happening.
